Deb H has the rest of the group photos I think. I thought I had more on my phone but sadly I do not. I’ll check the camera out at home and see if I have any there.

Hope you enjoyed this sneak peek!

Our next meeting is May 9th (2012), we will be doing some paint slinging; a painting round-robin on giant pieces of canvas. Should be fun, messy and very creatively freeing.

We hope to show you some fun results. For more information about our next meeting you can see our newsletter here.

The past couple meetings, most of the group has been playing with clay. Red clay, white clay, and another one that I can’t remember the name of offhand. Thank you to Barb for teaching us how to play with clay!

April’s meeting consisted of finishing up glazing the last few buttons and admiring the ones that were finished. The range of imagination in the buttons was amazing. Some were nice and simple, and some I would consider elegant, and some inbetween.

And finally, Kim’s buttons:

Which one is your favorite? I bet you can’t pick just one!

Next month we are moving on from clay to play with canvas and paint. Linda J is bringing in 2 ft sections of canvas and we’ll be putting them out on tables. Armed with acrylic paints, we will each spend 15 minutes painting whatever we want on a canvas. After 15 minutes, we move to the next canvas and paint whatever we want again.

Once we are all done, I think we are going to draw numbers and that’ll tell us which canvas we get to take home.

I don’t know about you, but that sounds like a lot of fun to me. If you are in the area and love crafts, chat, and learning new skills, drop a comment here to get more information or come to a meeting!

Welcome to Eye for Fiber, a fiber art group located in Imlay City, Michigan. The medium we work with is primarily fiber but all mediums are explored on occasion, such as our recent explorations into pottery clay buttons and fused glass buttons.

Our members knit, sew, crochet, paint, make dolls. Some members design their own patterns within their preferred medium while others prefer to follow a pattern or just ‘wing it’ and see what they end up with.

Eye For Fiber meets every month on the 2nd Wednesday of the month, 5:30pm Р8pm (some meetings run longer). During the Winter season, we meet at a local middle school and during the Summer season we meet at the Library downtown Imlay City.  Directions can be found on the sidebar on the right side of the blog.

Meetings are a healthy mix of show and tell, chat, learning a new skill, or refreshing an old one. All our members are talented and willing to share their experiences with each other.

If you would like to see what was done in the past, please follow This Link to our old blog platform.

Some of our recent on-going projects include: a traveling art journal, a monthly prompt wall-hanging, and decorating dolls that Linda K. sewed for us. Currently we are in the process of wrapping up our pottery clay buttons for April’s meeting.

What We Do –

Our medium is mostly, but not exclusively fiber. We support and critique each other's work. Gatherings are a mix of inspiration, techniques, and the occasional 'kick in the pants', peppered with a healthy dose of chat.

Members love to share their knowledge, help each other out, and have a good time while doing it!

Meetings happen in Imlay City, Michigan on (usually) the 2nd Wednesday of every month, from 5:30 to 8 p.m.
